BTOG 220 – Meeting

“I’m home.”

“Welcome back, Nana-sama and Rin-nee-chan. I made dinner for you, so please have some later.”

“Welcome back. I was watching the stream with Touka.”

“No, you were asleep until just now.”

“Why did you lie?”

After the stream, we asked Rin-chan’s attendant to clean up the room, and we pulled out early to return to the HEROES headquarters.

Well, when I say headquarters, I just mean the floor below us.

Touka-chan and Suu-chan were already waiting for us there. Seeing them waiting for us like this, only now did I feel like a real team.

“It ended earlier than I thought it would. I thought it would take a little longer.”

“As I said in the stream, there’s always tomorrow. And Nana herself has been streaming for a long time, so it’s a little late for her to say that was her debut. In my opinion, it’s better to end it while the viewers are still slightly curious.”

Although it seemed surprising to her that we stopped the stream early, Touka-chan seemed to follow Rin-chan’s decision without any question.

Suu-chan didn’t seem to be interested in how I was going to deliver the message, but the look she was giving me was sparkling.

After eating dinner prepared by Touka-chan, the four of us went to the meeting room.

As Rin-chan said this, the lights in the room went out, and an image was projected on the wall. I looked closely and saw a projector sticking out of the ceiling, and I thought to myself, how could they have gone to such great lengths to remodel the apartment?

“Tomorrow is the main competition. Today’s preliminary round was just a festival, but tomorrow will be different. There will be strong competitors. Suupaa, is there anyone on this list who looks troublesome for you?”

The image from the tablet device in Rin-chan’s hand was being projected on the wall, and the names and members of the teams competing in the main competition were all lined up on the projected screen.

Suu-chan looked at the screen for a moment and then began to name some of them.

The conversation quickly revolved only between Rin-chan and Suu-chan. And as usual, Suu-chan is always serious when she talks about Zero Wars VR.

However, it comes as a surprise to me that Suu-chan seemed to have a fairly accurate grasp of the names and skill levels of the participating players.

It was obvious that Rin-chan marked famous players, but Suu-chan also seemed to know the strengths and weaknesses of the players who were asked by Rin-chan.

“I don’t know anything.”

“Ufufufu.”

Rin-chan sighed as she saw our conversation and said this to Touka.

“You know… it’s okay if Nana doesn’t remember it or not, but you should remember it properly, Touka.”

“It’s all right. I’ll remember everything you discussed.”

“I know you will. I’m just reminding you,”

“Ehehe.”

A conversation with obvious implications. At a glance, there is nothing strange at all, but from my experience in the past, there will be hidden meaning in it.

I saw Rin-chan once in a while, but Touka-chan and I had been totally cut off for six years.

I know how their relationship was before, but there may be more I don’t know about Touka-chan than I thought I did.

As I was chatting with Touka-chan while thinking about this, Rin-chan, who had finished listening to Suu-chan, stopped the video and turned on the light in the room.

“Is that helpful?”

Accepting the tablet device that was tossed to her without warning, Touka-chan studied its contents at great speed.

“That’s obvious, Nana has the skills, but she won’t memorize every single person she hasn’t spoken to in person.”

While being stung by Suu-chan’s sharp words, I thought to myself that it is true that I rarely remember the names of people I have never met.

Unless I have a strong impression or interest in a person, it is difficult to remember it.

Like now, I remember the name of [Photon], who is said to be less strong than Suu-chan…

I can also remember the names of some players whom I have talked with through the Oni Bulletin Board, but that one is a special case.

If you’re a sniper, you will lose your ability to shoot if your enemy closes the distance! Then you will get killed easily! Not.

There’s no such thing here.

The sniper naturally has a short-range, high-power shotgun-like weapon as a sub-weapon in a battle royale shooter game like Zero Wars.

Being an all-rounder is an absolute must. Only when you have that much skill will you be able to use your best weapons and tactics.

And the equipment is a matter of luck since you have to use what you find as you move around the field.

Therefore, it is impossible to identify the opponent by the equipment they wear.

“It’s not a team vs. team competition, to begin with. It’s a multi-team survival game. The number of characters is limited, and there is no way to tell which team you are on from a quick glance.”

Both Suu-chan and Touka-chan nodded at Rin’s word. I guess it was that obvious.

I don’t think I would be able to identify someone just by looking at the movements of a group of four players with similar character and weapon configurations. and top players have a number of characters that they are good at.

In fact, Suu-chan loves to use [Ritu], a character that excels at close combat. But according to her, she can use all the characters at the same level.

If there was as much quality and diversity among each player as there is in WLO, I could identify them by the sound of their footsteps or the sound of their clothing rubbing against each other.

But in a shooting game with general characterization, for better or worse, the sounds are so similar that it is difficult to identify them.

“However, you should look at it too, Nana. You don’t have to memorize the names, but I’ve already planned a few strategies for you.”

“Okay.”

“When you’re done reading, we’ll practice as a team. I should get my instincts back.”

Rin-chan puffs out her chest and looks excited while I smile at her unusually enthusiastic self.

She was kind of nervous being surrounded by the older ladies. She is only 14 years old, after all.

Because my house assistant is going home for quite a long time, I become a house assistant in that period **sob**. A perk of the youngest child with the jack of all trades skill in the family.

And to make it worse, she called me and said she needed to extend her vacation time because she needed to attend her daughter’s marriage. You don’t know how much despair that news brings me. I had to use my all to say ‘congratulation’ and not ‘are you kidding meeee!!’.

Anyway, I will probably start posting chapter again in the upcoming days since I had translated them but has yet to proofread them (up to ch.229)
