BTOG 163 – Encounter in the Lost Forest

“I know the red wolf costume is too light, but this one is so fluffy.”

<Nomadic style.>

<Good taste Mr. Konekomaru.>

<It looks good on you.>

< It’s not like we’re going into battle, so why bother?>

“Eh? Didn’t we plan to do some hunt earlier?”

<?>

<?>

<?>

<?>

“Didn’t we talk about this when Konekomaru and I strolled around the village?”

Wanda had asked Konekomaru to check out the processed products made from the moonlight tree, and upon hearing this, I led him to Akagane’s workshop.

She is a professional woodworker. It would be better to leave that kind of business to the pro.

I was going to show him where the store was, but fortunately, Akagane was already up and working. After explaining everything to Akagane and parting ways with Konekomaru, I’m now on my way to hunt some monsters in the village outskirts.

“By the way, what kind of monster lurking here? I don’t have any idea since the monsters ran away from my curse on my way here.”

<I know there are Dark Wolves, right?>

<Metal Demon Boar – Macho, maybe?>

<I think there will be regular demon boars too.>>

< It’s not the same as the Boa of the Plains, the appearance is a bit like P*kemon.>

<I believe there’s also a goblin.>

<The wiki says they can use a bit of magic.>

“Now that you mentioned it…, I still have Metal Demon Boar in my inventory.”

While keeping note of the monsters that appear in the Lost Forest from the viewer’s comments, I remembered the contents of my inventory when I saw that particular name.

The Metal Demon Boar meat is said to be very tasty. I received it as a reward for passing  750 points in Yabusame.

It’s not like the [Kikoku Tsumugi] that I immediately found a use for. For this boar, I don’t have a chance to eat yet, so it’s been sitting in my inventory.

As for the other one, the [Moon Spark Flower], I also haven’t decided its use. I believe yabusame’s uncle said it was good for accessories? I should’ve asked Konekomaru to give it to Wanda.

“Well, let’s go out to the Lost Forest for now. I haven’t fought recently, so I’m feeling a little rusty.”

<What about the boss fight three days ago?>

<Recent = two days.> {jap thing again}

<↑Agreed, it’s been too long…..>

<But it is also true that no fight is occurred except for that boss fight.>

“That boss was not particularly strong. I wanted to have a more intense battle.”

< Isn’t it impossible to hope that from a normal monster?>

<Your level is too high, period.>

<The weapons are too strong now.>

“You all probably right….Oh… Thank you for your hard work.”

While talking to the viewer, I called out to the gatekeeper-bro. {gatekeeper nii-chan sound awful}

It’s not that I have to, but it would be too sad to ignore him.

And it is also the right way to enjoy the atmosphere of this place. …As I convinced myself, the gatekeeper gave me a bright smile and started to speak.

“You must be Sukuna! Are you going out into the forest?”

“Yes, I’m going to hunt some monsters.”

“There seems to be a bit of a shortage of wild vegetables in the village these days, so if you can bring some back, they’ll pay a good price for them!”

“….do you pass on this kind of information to everyone?”

“Yes, I do! We try to tell as many people as possible!”

“I see… I understand. Okay, I’m off!”

“Have a safe trip!”

I waved to the energetic gatekeeper bro and stepped into the lost forest.

I ducked to avoid the [Dark Wolf] that jumped at me from the front, grabbed its tail, and forcibly killed its momentum by throwing it upward left.

After confirming that three arrows had pierced the thrown Dark Wolf and figuring out the shooter’s position, I threw my knife as hard as I could at the moment the Dark Wolf I had used as a shield got out from my line of fire.

Before I could confirm the hit, I swung the [Mumei] that I was holding in my free hand at the dark wolf, crushing its head, while watching the throwing knife making its way to the goblin archer’s eyeball.

In the meantime, I grabbed the head of the [Hide Snake], which was creeping silently from the trees, and forcibly sewed its mouth shut with an over-heavy metal throwing knife, grabbed its tail and body, which were still struggling around trying to wrap my hand, and tore them off.

The battle ended with the death of a goblin archer that had one of its eyes pierced.

“Fuh…..  I won’t have time to pick up wild vegetables if this continues.”

I’ve been fighting for about 10 minutes in a row, and after wrestling down a wave of nearly 30 monsters, I finally can let out a light sigh.

“I’m grateful for the experience, but I didn’t know that monsters will normally swarm at me like this in the Lost Forest.”

<No, it’s not normal at all.>

<I also think it’s a rather unusual situation.>

<You get through all of this unscathed? …where did the Sukuna from magical forest go?> {I forget what the previous translator named that forest, need to check}

<↑I missed the stream at that time. Did she similarly fight this much monster?>

<Sukuna… did you get better at fighting now?>

<↑I don’t know if it’s because her level has become too high, but I think her kill order is excellent.>

“I wonder?  Certainly, I think I’m doing better compared to when I was in the Magical Forest. …… Oh, maybe it’s because I played with a similar situation in the game two days ago.”

<What game?>

<Something like Earth Defense Force?>

“No, it’s a simulation game where you’re thrown out almost naked against a real-like army, and you have to defeat all of them. By the way, it was one against 1000.”

<Come again?>

<LMAO.>

<Definitely a garbage game.>

<Not even anti-military simulation is like that!>

<What kind of situation would be useful….?>

<↑ this situation?>

<↑ I’m just saying it’s funny that it’s really become useful…..>

Thinking back to the hellish simulations I did at Rin-chan’s main house, the situation where you can fight with a normal weapon against 30 monsters doesn’t seem like a big deal.

The forest terrain is also good. The instability of the foothold doesn’t affect me, but it does limit some of the monster’s actions, and if I move my body a little, I can block the archer’s or magic’s line of fire. It’s also a good idea to use a wolf as a shield, as I did earlier.

Thanks to the further increase in my strength, I was also able to grab a wolf’s tail and kill its momentum, then change its trajectory with sheer force.

If the attack’s momentum is only as strong as that of the dark wolf, I now realize that I can use any monster that comes close to me as a shield.

“…also, if you want to take me by surprise, come a little quieter.”

As I was aware of the approaching sound, I swung [Mumei] to my back without looking at the target.

The monster that had started to vanish after I crushed one of its limbs was called [Labyrinth Deer], a small deer-like monster.

“As expected, this one attack power is high.”

<Is it that high?>

<↑you kidding!>

<The weapon’s attack power is also the highest ever, so it’s safe to say it is.>

“I was wondering if it’s because of my strength too. I thought I understood the output of this avatar properly, but somehow it produces more destructive power than I expected.”

As long as the physical abilities of the game are not superior to the physical abilities of the real world, I have complete control over this avatar unless it is buffed.

Even so, I have the feeling that the firepower it produces against monsters is far beyond my imagination. I thought it was because of the weapon’s attack power, but there is certainly not that much difference between the [Mumei] and [Yoiyami].

“It’s okay. In any case, it’s better to have high attack power. We’ll have to assume this as the standard, right?”

<Muscle Brain Oni girl>

<She stops thinking. LOL>

<Also powerful in terms of money!>

<Finally, the real Sukuna>

“Well, that’s just the way I am.”

< Don’t agree.>

<How come you’re so quick-witted when you’re fighting ……”

<Gorinna.>

<↑but… gorilla is smart.>

“[Gorina]… That’s not even close to my name anymore, is it? …wait, I heard something.”

While I was making banter with my viewers, I heard something in the distance. It sounded like a girl screaming for help.

Suddenly, the thought of Rou came to my mind. When I first started, I rescued a screaming girl in the “marshes of Lawless”** and found out she was a famous PK player, which led me to PvP her.

Well, it’s unlikely that the same situation will occur twice. {jinx}

“I hear a girl screaming. Should I go help her?”

<Are you sure it’s not a hallucination?>

< Let’s help her.>

< Let’s help.>

< Let’s regain your humanity.>

<↑She hasn’t lost it!>

<↑but her intelligence is… well, let’s stop messing around…..>

<↑I will pray.>

“Then let’s go save them. If they’re still alive, that is.”

I can still hear the voices, and in any case, they’re getting closer.

Judging from the footsteps, there are ……12 entities? There are two human footsteps, and the rest are probably demon boar. There are no goblins or wolves, but there seems to be a deer mixed.

There were two voices, one of which sounded familiar, but I couldn’t remember who it was. And it seems that the owner of the unknown voice is complaining to the familiar one.

Whoever it is, I’m sure we’ll run into each other soon.

I grabbed to a slightly higher branch and jumped on it, then waited for the screamers to arrive.

“That’s why I said! Don’t attack the Light Fox!”

“Hahaha, even so, we almost got rid of them, didn’t we? Come on, there’s only ten left.”

“No way! I’m already almost out of SP!”

“That’s strange then! Me too!”

“AGHHH! Please no moreeee!”

A young girl in a kimono comes running in my direction with a big smile on her face as if to say she’s having a great time, and a female knight comes running while crying.

I’ve only met these two once, but I know them.

After deciding that it would not be a problem to come to their aid, I threw [Mumei] downward as hard as I could so that it would hit the eyeball of the “Metal Demon Boar” that was leading the monsters chasing the two.

The momentum of moving forward at a considerable speed, combined with the power of the super-heavy metal rod that fell from above, produced a pleasant crashing sound.

The metal demon boar suddenly lost its footing due to the shock of having one of its eyes crushed, and it rolled over heavily.

In addition, the demon boar and Labyrinth Deer who were running behind were also crashed, and the monsters were knocked down and piled up.

There was no way I was going to miss that opportunity, so I quickly jumped down and gave them a follow-up.

However, Because Mumei collided with the metal demon boar and it was flying to who knows where currently, I didn’t have a proper weapon at hand, and I couldn’t afford to change my equipment on the spot and decided to forcibly break the monster’s neck with my bare hands.

As I was trying to break the neck of Labyrith Deer with my bare hand, a sharp air emanating from my back.

The two who had fled earlier must have immediately noticed the anomaly and returned.

I twisted the Deer’s neck, then took a bit of distance from the monster pack, thinking that I could leave the rest to them.

“[Dual Burn Edges]!”

The female knight uses two swords covered in flames to slash at the immobilized metal demon boar.

It’s a pretty messy sword technique, but in exchange, you can’t read the pattern, and there are a lot of strikes. I wonder if that type of art gives the fire attribute to the user’s weapon.

While I was admiring the arts of the most straightforward “twin swords” skill using two standard straight swords, I saw another young girl in a kimono holding a sword that was clearly inappropriate for her height.

“[Scattered Sakura – Sever]” {Midare Sakura – Dan}

Every time she swung her sword, the monster’s head would fall clean off.

And that’s not an art. It was purely a combination of the weapon’s performance and her skill.

In just a few seconds, she was able to remove the heads of all the monsters with her sword, and it was so elegant.

Even though there were no bloodstains on the sword, the young girl, who made a gesture to clean the blood off the sword as a routine, sheathed her overly large sword and took a breath.

Then she turned her serious expression into a happy smile and walked towards me.

“Fufufu, you saved me.”

“Looks like you don’t need that.”

“Gahahaha! Don’t mind the small thing! It’s been a long time, Sukuna.”

As she said that, Arthur, the young girl who is the clan leader of the clan [Knights of the Round Table], smiled happily.

===.

A note:

Arthur, the leader of the clan “Knights of the Round Table”, and the female knight Suryuu. I hope you guys didn’t forget about them.

To my reader:

Sorry… I got pretty burned out…

I want to dish out more chapters, but tbh I think I need to tone down blunt ogre girl a little.

Do not worry, I still love the story, I just have a bit of spite for this author and to myself, this author… he/she keep using Japanese jargon that I need to research before I could even understand what they are saying, and I hate myself for my lack of understanding for this.

So yeah… I got pretty burned out right now.

That said, I still will meet my promise. I just need to take a little break.

I read some manga and got blue balled by its cliffhanger. I will translate the novel part into that particular manga, just for fun. Probably won’t even list it on novel updates. Because I will be skipping chapters way ahead, it will totally wreck the chapter order if I list it.

Also, don’t worry. Patreon’s schedule will remain the same as usual, just a bit later.

    Thanks for the chapter! Been loving the translations. As long as you come back to it in the end, take as long of a break as you need. (^-^)

    Some minor corrections:

    I think that this:
    “Whatever who is, I’m sure we’ll run into each other soon.”
    Should be this:
    “Whoever it is, I’m sure we’ll run into each other soon.”
    And:
    “As she that, Arthur, the young girl . . .”
    Should be:
    “As she said that, Arthur, the young girl . . .”

    Thanks for the chapter! Please take care of yourself first. We can always wait a little longer if need be.

    Thanks

    Take as much time as you need

  5. MrTrixer says:

    Dont mind the deadline too much, if you feel that youre getting burned out then you should have a longer break from translating instead. Otherwise it will turn into a choir and you might have to even force yourself from translating novels from now on.
    After that the job/ translations will get dull for you and make you lose motivation. No matter the reason it is better to have a break at that time instead, for your own sake and your mental health.

    Take care of yourself.

    Thank you for the chapter and the treat! (^_^)/
