PMZ 086 – Can I get along with the second heroine?

The next day.

Today is the day for same-sex pairs, so I started teaching mainly girls, and the class went much more peaceful than yesterday.

Then, lunchtime.

I show up at 2-A and call out to Miss Anna.

Hayato glanced at me from the seat next to me and gave me a small nod. I nodded back and walked out into the hallway with Anna.

“Huh? Sensei, the lunchroom is not that way…”

“Yes, it is. It’s too crowded and uncomfortable there, isn’t it? I’ve saved one of the salons for you, so let’s eat there.”

Yes. This is a nobleman’s academy, so there are many rooms for socializing.

In fact, there are more of this kind of room compared to the classroom, I could imagine my previous world self will laugh at this. But for me who lived here, it’s normal, there’s nothing particularly strange about it.

Each room in the salon has its own theme, and Hayato and I usually meet after school in the music room where the instruments are kept.

Other rooms have ocean-themed design or interiors full of ribbons and lace that girls like, there’s also playrooms with darts and pool tables, and so on.

The salons at the academy are renovated once every two years, which is said to be an honorable job for a common interior decorator as a sign that he has become a top-notch craftsman, but I digress.

All of them are designed so that you can relax and chat over a cup of tea, and if you ask the maid to bring you lunch from the kitchen, she will do it for you. It’s all very thoughtful.

This time we used the salon with the theme of the sea and pearls. It’s a refreshing salon with white as the base color and blue in some places. However, we didn’t choose this room for its interior design, but because nest to this room is the music-themed room.

This time, I asked Hayato to play background music so that I could talk to Anna, who was having a hard time keep the conversation going.

The reason why he was playing it in the next room was that it would be difficult to continue the casual conversation if he were here with us.

“I’ve never had a request like that before. It’s not something you usually ask from an S-rank adventurer.”

But good music has the power to bring out people’s emotions, and I think his piano had that power.

Like that one detective, who starts singing about how his mother worked all night knitting gloves for him when he interrogating the suspect. {tln}

It’s a bit of a bad analogy, but I think the mood will be something like that.

The first thing I want to do is to have her face someone she’s not comfortable with (me), and while she’s feeling uncomfortable inside, a relaxing song comes on from the next room to soothe her anxiety.

When I was able to relax a little and have a light conversation, the next song would be a light and cheerful one that helped one to smile.

Once she starts feeling better, we’ll move on to the main topics of “I’m not good with girls” and “Don’t put your hand on someone who has a fiancé.” That’s how I planned it in my head.

Hayato’s job is to get her mouth moving smoothly. This job could take a few minutes at the earliest, or an entire lunch break if he’s not very good at it. I haven’t decided on the reward yet. {…plus-minus zero Alice}

He said he didn’t need it, but that’s not going to happen since I’ve taken his precious lunch break. I’ll decide it later.

In order to carry out this operation, I thought it would be better if he could hear our conversation, so I embed the formula of the communication device to a pair of ear cuffs (borrowed from Luke), making them look like a spy tool.

It was simple enough to just connect it from A to B device, all I need to do is to specify the range and volume of the sound it will pick up.

We put these simple silver ear cuffs in our ears one at a time, and by injecting our magic power through them at the same time, both of us can pick up sound from our surroundings.

This time, Hayato wore A, and I wore B. The volume of the voice picked up was adjusted so that only the person itself could hear it. by the way, we are already connected.

It seems that Hayato will be able to match the content of our conversations – for example, if the atmosphere becomes tense, he will play a cheerful tune.

It might funny to hear this from me, but I think it’s really great that he’s willing to go along with my silly idea every single time. I love you.

Anyway, Anna and I entered the salon named “Marinepia” and sat down on a white velvet couch. The edges are decorated with pearls, and it’s pretty cute. It’s secretly my favorite.

Anna sat down on the single-seater sofa across from me, looking a little lost. Her eyes and fingertips were moving restlessly, it looks like that she won’t open a conversation anytime soon.

The maid was going to bring us lunch here at Marinepia, so I wanted to get some kind of talk going before then.

With that in mind, I tapped my ear cuff with the tip of my nail. This is the “please begin” signal. The same goes for the signal of mission completion.

A little while later, I heard music coming from next door. It was the famous “Nocturne No. 2.” It was a quiet song that reminded me of the silence of the night.

Immediately, Miss Anna raised her restlessly wandering gaze and looked at the wall facing the next room. Her fidgety fingers stopped fidgeting, and she was now sitting on her knees in a well-behaved position.

–I’m sure my plan is effective.

I tried to call her while sounded a bit impressed.

“It looks like someone is practicing. Anna, do you like nocturnes?”

Anna nodded her head and opened her mouth.

“… Well. I’m practicing the same one right now, and I’m having trouble playing it…”

“Oh, I see. It’s true that Nocturne No. 2 is difficult to play, isn’t it?”

“Yes, it is. It’s kind of flat and …tasteless.”

Oh! For the first time, I was able to have a second reply from Anna!

This was a good sign, so I leaned forward and listened.

“My piano teacher says that this is a song that can speak for itself… But I’m not sure what she means by that, I just can’t get a sense of it.”

“I don’t know if I can properly explain it, but the fun part of classical music is that even if you follow the score, many differences are depending on the player.

“Yes, …I really like this nocturne of the person who is playing it now. I wonder who’s playing it…”

That’s a secret. I can’t tell you that because you’ll fall in love with him!

I cleared my throat and heard a giggle in my ear.

The unexpected destructive power of the ear cuff!

Nooo, my heart is going to explode!

“…I don’t know who he is, but I’m sure he’s the kind of player who has good taste. I like it too.”

“I love you too, Ellie.”

Don’t casually reply to my conversation!!

And I say LIKE! Not LOVE! It’s not the same!

I was trying to think of what to say next, but all my thoughts were blown away.

Then Anna asked me with a curious look on her face.

“Eh…? Mrs. Elie, how do you know it’s a man who’s playing this?

I just dug my grave.

Who said that stupidity can’t be cured unless you die?
